Bushwalk at Kurnell

WALK DETAILS

This walk has been chosen to coincide with whales migrating northwards past Kurnell headlands.    Generally, over the years, the greatest number of whales passing Kurnell occurs during the last 3 to 4 weeks of June, but there is no guarantee.

Date :-  Sunday the 20th June, 2021

Meet :-  at 9:15am, at the junction of Capt. Cook Drive and Polo St, Kurnell.  You should get parking along the south/eastern end of Polo St.     There are no Park entry fees.

The Trek : - we will take a leisurely walk through the bush and out to the headlands, then slowly make our way southward towards Tabbigai Gap; hopefully witnessing whales passing by.   Our route will be along bush tracks, board walks. Service trails and Jims’ way.  It will take approx. 2 hours to get to the Headlands.  Lunch will be had somewhere along the headlands at Cape Solander.

There is no fixed time planned as we can be quite flexible, working with the needs of individuals, but allow for say 5 hours (the passing whales have not provided their scheduled timetable).   We would then return to the vehicle; there are several ways.  If we are all experienced individuals then, following discussions, some could leave earlier than others.

Bring :- lunch and drinks, suitable clothing for the day (it can be quite windy out there and be prepared for weather changes), enclosed footwear, hat, sun cream, personal 1st Aid kit …. etc …..

Please reply to the listed email address, indicating your attendance, number in party and a contact number, preferably mobile, as I may need to contact you on day.
